KING'S ROAD REVOLUTION - WHERE ART MEETS MUSIC

THURSDAY, APRIL 27 to SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2017

CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL, LONDON SW3 5EE

This year the Chelsea Art Fair will Rock! A special project space will be dedicated to those legendary musicians who were inspired by the King’s Road, London - the most influential road in the world which became synonymous with fashion, music and art in the 60s and 70s. The Fair will be held at the Chelsea Old Town Hall from Thursday, 27th to Sunday, 30th April 2017.

For the first time there will be a special selling exhibition of sculptures, paintings and photography of musicians who were all part of the King's Road's hey day and the continuous importance of the road in popular culture. The artists, many of whom had been part of the scene, managed to capture the spirit of the time.

Guy Portelli, who brought his winning idea of creating sculptures of music icons to Dragons' Den in 2008, is the brain child behind the project. He started working on this project 40 years ago and will bring some of his favourite sculptures to the Fair – all with a strong link to the King's Road music scene. Think Sex Pistols, The Who, David Bowie, John Lennon and Elton John.

To commemorate the first Anniversary of Prince's Death, Guy will also be unveiling his latest work. The major new sculpture has been created to be launched at the art Fair. Using a Corvette bonnet as a foundation, Guy's use of mosaic captures the spirit of this Pop icon and his songs. Prince who sold out 21 nights at the O2 Arena in 2007, still holds the record for sell out shows........
